Types of Auto Repair

AUTO BODY REPAIRS | METAL
Before any of the body work begins, the metal panel must initially be returned to a shape that is very similar to its original condition through a procedure that is covered in detail within our collision repair page. Learn More about Auto Collison Repairs
- Once any metal panel is returned to its general shape it must go through a few more steps in order for the finer details of the metal to be perfected.
- The repaired area of the metal must be grinded in order to prepare it for body filler.
- Next the body filler is applied to the areas that where previously grinded. The body filler is used to perfect the fine details, and shape the metal panel exactly to the original condition.
- The entire surface is sanded down in order to ensure it is uniform.
- After the surface is perfectly level, it is finished with spot putty to return it to its original smoothness.
AUTO BODY REPAIRS | PLASTIC
There are generally two types of plastic repairs, depending whether the plastic is cracked, chipped or misshaped. Most cracked and chipped plastics can be repaired, only severe cases require replacement. For a better understanding of the two types of repairs we will explain them step by step.
AUTO BODY REPAIRS | PLASTIC CHIPS AND SCRATCHES
- The area where the plastic has been chipped or scratched must be sanded down until the surface is even and smooth.
- The smoothness of the plastic is increased even further through the addition of spot putty.
- The spot putty is sanded down to return the entire area to the original perfect condition.
- The plastic is then painted and finished to the original colour. Learn More about Auto Painting
